General
The waiting list for fully trained disability assistance dogs for children and adults is currently closed.
The charity is working through our existing waiting list
Due to the specialist training required for disability assistance dogs. Unfortunately the family member fostering programme is not suitable.
We will only be in a position to re-open our waiting lists when the charity secures funding. Securing funding is a priority for the charity.
Message from the Chief Executive Officer
Due to an exceptionally high numbers of enquiries and a long waiting list, on the 02nd September 2016, we had to make the hard decision to close our waiting list for qualified Disability Assistance Dogs.
We do realise how disappointing this may be and we would like to assure you that whole of Assistance Dogs NI team is working hard to increase the numbers of dogs we can train any every year. Since we closed our waiting list, we have had over 500 enquiries for these ‘Life Changing Dogs’. All charities have been hit hard by Covid-19, however without funding we are unable to open the waiting list.
