General
The waiting list for fully trained Autism Anchor Dogs is currently closed.
The charity is working through our existing waiting list. We will only be in a position to re-open our waiting lists when the charity secures funding. Securing funding is a priority.
When it is open again it will be posted on our website and facebook page.
Message from the Chief Executive Officer
Due to an exceptionally high numbers of enquiries and a long waiting list, on the 02nd September 2016, we had to make the hard decision to close our waiting list for qualified Assistance Dogs.
We do realise how disappointing this may be and we would like to assure you that whole of Assistance Dogs NI team is working hard to increase the numbers of dogs we can train any every year. Since we closed our waiting list, we have had over 500 enquiries for these ‘Life Changing Dogs’. All charities have been hit hard by Covid-19, however without funding we are unable to open the waiting list. Help Protect Our Future.
However, in 2016, we introduced the Family Member Fostering Programme for children with Autism. A family member becomes the ADNI puppy foster carer and trains the puppy for their own child under our direction. Due to Covid-19 we had to suspend this programme. However, we are aiming to put 15 pups through this programme as part of the Reaching Out and Supporting Families. The programme will commence when it is safe to do so.
