Costa came to live with Henry in September 2015, Costa has been a real life changer for Henry, he has come on so well in all areas of his development.
Henry has autism and severe learning difficulties. Costa assists Henry firstly by being his anchor dog, this keeps Henry safe on the road and has saved his life on several occasions.
Having Costa by his side means Henry is calm and secure when out shopping. Before Costa came to us, Henry needed deep pressure in the morning for about 15 minutes before he could get up in the morning, but since the first day Costa came to live with us this stopped and now Costa sits at the top of our hall and we tell him to go get Henry.
He races to Henry’s room, then he goes to the bathroom with him and helps him with his clothing. It has become Henry’s job to look after Costa, so he is in charge of feeding and brushing him. Costa has transformed the way Henry gets his hair cut as it used to be so stressful for both Henry and us and now Costa keeps him so calm. Having Costa has helped the whole family by making it easier for us to do things as a family. Henry’s speech has improved greatly with us making conversation through Costa and asking him questions.
